disgusting toilet question

I know this is not the greatest subject, but how do you keep the inside of the toilet clean. not the bowl or the tank but the area under the trap door and before the tank. I do have a sprayer I can put in there, but it has a tendency to want to spray up sense it has a pitch to it that makes the water come back up. Not fun wen it gets you in the face:E. If you have any tricks please let me know.

RE: water leak

the water in the drain is in the goose neck. It is there to help keep smells from the tank coming into the TT. that should be there. As far as the other leak. Your guess is as good as mine.

RE: How to use Quick Cool on AC

If you don't have ducted air and your air is distributed only from the ceiling plenum, then your model does not have the Quick-Cool feature. wouldn't that mean they had the quick cool only feature. :S

RE: Norcold fridge won't light on gas

Since you have spark and have gas, it seems that the spark ignitor may need to come closer to the gas origin. The gas burner normally has a saw tooth looking pattern on top of it. this is where the gas come up for ignition. the spark ignitor should be directly above this and no more than 1/8 inch away from it. We had the same problem with ours and as stated above our spark igniter was too far away to get it going. Just a little tweaking and it was good. good luck

RE: Towing

Absolutely NOT! Sorry to be so direct, but there is only one answer, no way! Unless maybe if you wanted to tow it 10 feet... Ditto:S

RE: camping in bear country

Twydee, just curious what part of Idaho you are in? I know here in Rexburg, you go very far and you are in bear country. I have had them come through camp as close as 30 minutes away from home. Keep the camp clean and all food stuff in the TV or TT and you are safer then if you leave it outside. My wife wanted a camper because she did not feel safe in the old tent. I told her so we went from a sack lunch to a box lunch. It is not going to mater how careful you are, if the bear wants it it is going to get it. Just be mindful of your food and where it is and, as the parks guy said, "if you can burn your trash, burn it." We went up to Yellowstone a week ago and there is still snow on the north sides of things. Not alot but some. Have fun. We live in Rigby. We have camped quite a bit in tents but I could never get a good nights sleep! So we got our TT and wanted to do all I could to get a good nights sleep! If we keep some of our things in our suburban would that be okay? They say if it is out of site, but I dont' know if the bears will try to get into the burb if they see some containers. Several years ago we had a friend who worked for the CHP in the Eureka Ca area. He was on duty on hwy 101 by Garberville and saw a car traveling south without a drivers door. He pulled the guy over and told him he did nothing wrong, but he just had to know what happened to the door. The guy said he had been camping up in the Trinity Alps and a bear had torn his door off! He had left his cooler in the car while off hiking and came back and saw the mess. He was hoping to be able to find a car door because his was gone and he couldn't find it! So you are right, if they are going to get in not much is going to keep them out! Thank you and we will do our best to have a great time! You know it is not so much as what they see but what they smell. We keep the food in the refer in the TT and have had no problems, YET. There is always a risk when we live in bear country, but it is a risk we take to enjoy life:B. I have seen bear as low as the benches above archer and have had moose right in my back yard in the middle of Rexburg. Just enjoy the time you have and get out alot. Are you from this area or a transplant? If you are new to the camping world let me know there are great places you can take your TT and get away in the area.

RE: Thunderstorms & Shore Power

Well since you house is MUCH taller and MUCH more exposed than your RV, and you wouldn't even consider doing any of the above at home, seems kind of silly to do any of the above when camping. That is what I use to think, but after being hit by lightening, and living to tell about it, I dont always believe that the house or the 30 ft oak tree that was 20 feet away will get hit before something small will. I was sitting in the driveway with the door of the car open and the lightening did not hit the house, or the tree, or the car that I was in, but me. I still would not unplug anyhow. Why bother. If the lightening is going to get you it will.

RE: Black Tank Valve Handle Fell Off

They do screw off so you can replace them. I had one break and it was worth the $2.50 to screw off the old plastic one and put on a new metal one that will not break as easy.

RE: Bad doggie!

Kennels should not be a "bad" place for a dog to be; my dogs go to them by themselves for some alone time when they feel like it. Most reputable breeders highly recommend that dogs be in kennels when you are away... it is a SAFE place for them and they cannot get into trouble/destroy things/poison themselves/etc. Obviously in the trailer in the hot sun, however, would not be acceptable; use some common sense. Get them accustomed to being in there before you take them on holidays tho or your neighbors may not appreciate your howling hound fifteen or twenty feet away. We keep out Yorkie in a very small kennel when we are gone. I'm sure I'll get flamed, but PLEASE don't do this. What if something happens? They have NO chance. If you can't take them with, hire a sitter or put them in a kennel where they have supervision. We are STEWARDS, not captors. We have a Chihuahua that loves his kennel. They are burrowing ground dogs and he will sit in it for hours on end just because he wants too. It is also a place of solitude and quiet for him to be away when he wants too. I have spoken with many breeders and kennels are a dogs best friend. Mine does great and will even sleep in it all night and sometimes wants to stay in it in the morning. I am a firm believer of kennels.

RE: Shower Sky Light

We had out skylight leak a year ago and went into the dealer to have it fixed and they showed us how they stress fracture in the corners. They said it happens all the time and when they are put in they do not use enough dicor to cover the corners completely. They replaced ours and now the dicor goes from about 1 inch outside the skylight to the curve of the skylight. this way if and when it stress fractures again we should not have the problem again.

RE: Which would you choose.......

If you don't plan on upsizing your TT go for the Durango. I've driven SUVs for years. Once I upsized my TT I knew my SUV days were over. You need to think of the future. If you are going to do like most of us and want to upgrade to something bigger in the future it would benefit to get the RAM now and not regret it later. Also, everyone says keep the wife happy. She may be happier getting the RAM if she wants more room in the future. Think about it.:h

RE: down time?

My B.I.L. has had his in the shop now for about a 1.5 months. He has used it twice for a simple fix. They ordered the parts a couple times to have only ordered the wrong thing. Now they dealer is thinking of just taking the TT back and letting him pick out another. Very frustrating.

Why not put the railing on the other side of the steps? I was wondering the same thing.

RE: Letting the trailer "just sit" for 3 months?

So my question, what do we need to do for a parked TT if it sits unused for 3 or 4 months? Should we plug it in from time to time so the battery doesn't run down or is running the battery down not a problem? Keep your batteries topped off is good and also make sure that the water levels stay up to snuff. You dont want all the water to boil out. Not good. The black water tank is clean. Is it okay to leave water in the tanks? If mine is going to sit for a long period I drain the tanks. Leaving water in there for too long may promote growth of stuff and will go stale. Dont drink it if it sits long. Should we open the fridge? If your fridge has been run then prop the doors open. If you dont then mold and other nasties may start to grow and then you get to deal with the smell for the rest of its life.

RE: Newbie Power question

Your camper is not a 220 service. It is a 110 so please dont try to plug it into a 220. Not a good thing.

RE: Towing with full tanks

We dry camp all the time and it is usually a 50+ mile trip to the dump station. Have had no problems. As outdoorsman2007 stated, "The tanks are made to carry fluid."

RE: question about camping...What do you think???

It is crazy how inconsiderate people are. Last year we were having a nice camp until the neighbors moved in next to us. They had loud music and they did not even act like there was anyone else in the camp. We got up one morning to have them sitting and eating on the picnic table that was in our site, chained down, and each site had their own. Their table was full of junk and garbage, so I guess mine was just cleaner so why not invade. Many people out there now days have no manners and are not considerate to anyone but themselves. Why do you think they are dubbing this next generation the "ME" generation. It is all about ME. What are these parents teaching their kids? Nothing from what I can see.

RE: What would you choose??

you could always take the loan for the 10,000 and then take what you have left over and put it on the loan to lessen what you owe.
